Hey Foy, I played a game with some chums to see what they thought the chorus lyrics were and the best guess out of seven people were "Fall down all my merchant souls, fill thy fobbie." Doesn't make any sense, right? Neither do you. The other six couldn't even be bother to try and hash out a guess. Marketing a song entails you sing so that people can enjoy and sing along as to feel part of the experience, especially the chorus which, in this case, is the hardest to make out. Am I a hater with nothing better to do? Nope. I'm a guy who has listened to your beautiful song upwards of hundred times. I looked up the lyrics and validated your artistic brilliance. Let others know how good you are by not making them do this.

This could be a stretch, and I can't seem to find much evidence that Foy Vance is a believer, but a lot of the words in this song reflect the word pictures from the Song of Solomon in the Bible. While the groom and his bride explore one another physically on their wedding night, the poetry in this scriptural text presents a lot of imagery from nature, like mountains, flowing rivers, and gardens, to express their love in a raw and natural way. The bride is devoted to her groom and her mouth drips with nectar and honey; the groom treasures his wife and calls her endearing names, like "beloved" and "my dove" (equivalent to our modern day "darling" or "baby"). At one point, the bride has a nightmare and wanders the streets looking for her husband, much like how Vance's character has trouble sleeping soundly. It's beautiful when they finally come back together and the woman is soothed and calmed by her man. Whether Vance intended it or not, his lyrics and song title (Be the SONG) reflect the beautiful book, SONG of Solomon, also called the Song of Songs. The parallels are incredible, and both "songs" have deep, relentless romance.
